Cypress Bay is a perfect 9-0 against South Plantation since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Cypress Bay Lightning will host the South Plantation Paladins at 6:00 p.m. Cypress Bay is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
Cypress Bay is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Deerfield Beach just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bucks. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Cypress Bay got a good showing from Max Cabrera, who pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. The dominant performance also gave Cabrera a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

At the plate, John Escobar was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gabriel Parilli, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Meanwhile, South Plantation hadn't done well against Coral Glades recently (they were 0-8 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. South Plantation skirted past Coral Glades 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Paladins have posted since April 9, 2024.
Aidan Fitzgerald looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in earned runs (zero).
On the hitting side, South Plantation's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Gio Mejia, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Mejia also brought in two RBI, marking his first of the season. Andrew Gollan was another, scoring a run and stealing a base.
South Plantation is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-4 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to strikeouts: they averaged an imposing 8.25 strikeouts in those games compared to only four in the others. Cypress Bay now has a losing record of 3-4.
South Plantation's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Cypress Bay hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .316. It's a different story for South Plantation, though, as they've only averaged .237. Will they be able to contain Cypress Bay's hitters?
Cypress Bay came out on top in a nail-biter against South Plantation in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Does Cypress Bay have another victory up their sleeve, or will South Plantation turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
