The Niagara Falls Wolverines will challenge the Sweet Home Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Niagara Falls is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.2 runs per game this season.
Niagara Falls is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Williamsville South just ended the team's 11-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of the Billies by a score of 8-7.
Anthony Littere and Anthony Savino did some serious damage despite the final result: Littere got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one double, while Savino went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last contest, Sweet Home made sure to put some runs up on the board against Kenmore West on Monday. The Panthers walked away with a 10-5 win over the Blue Devils. The Panthers have beaten the Blue Devils the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Blue Devils has come to flipping the script.
Kyle Hall made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Rocco Panepinto was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Aiden Mroz was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one run.
The victory got Sweet Home back to even at 8-8-1. As for Niagara Falls, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-2.
Sweet Home's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Niagara Falls hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .385. It's a different story for Sweet Home, though, as they've only averaged .255. Will they be able to contain Niagara Falls' hitters?
Niagara Falls took their win against Sweet Home when the teams last played back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 8-2 score. Will the Wolverines repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
