Softball Recap: Greenbrier West Makes It Three in a Row at Home

Greenbrier West's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Monday. They never let the Mount View Golden Knights get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Cavaliers in their matchups with the Golden Knights: they've now won six in a row.

Brilee Redden made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Brooklyn Adkins and Kyndall Taylor did most of the damage at the plate: Adkins got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double, while Taylor went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three runs gave Adkins a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brooke Patterson, who earned two RBI, two runs, and two stolen bases.

Greenbrier West was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in eight consecutive games.

Greenbrier West's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-8. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Mount View, their loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-8.

Greenbrier West will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Golden Knights: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
