Douglas County West has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Conestoga Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Tuesday, Douglas County West was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 43-39 to the Rockets.
Despite the defeat, Douglas County West had strong showings from Grace Holm, who scored 14 points, and Addison Strong, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Conestoga's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 13th straight loss. They were beaten by Arlington 52-17. While losing is never fun, Conestoga can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 261st, while the Eagles are ranked 36th).
Douglas County West's defeat dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Conestoga, they dropped their record down to 2-16 with that defeat, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.
Douglas County West was able to grind out a solid win over the Cougars in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, winning 46-35. The rematch might be a little tougher for Douglas County West since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
