Basketball Recap: Chapman Beats Woodruff for Their Fourth Straight Win

Chapman had won three straight games and Annastyn Smith did her part to make it four on Thursday. The Chapman Panthers walked away with a 57-49 victory over the Woodruff Wolverines thanks in part to Smith, who went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 25 points and eight boards. That's the most points she has posted since back in February of 2024.

Despite the loss, Woodruff still got an impressive performance from Sadie Burnette, who posted 22 points in addition to six rebounds and six steals. That was a full 44.9% of Woodruff's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Robinson, who went 5 of 10 on her way to 13 points.

Chapman's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-9. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.7 points per game. As for Woodruff, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 15-4.

Chapman didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 56-38 victory against Broome on the 24th. Woodruff has also already played their next match, a 61-40 win against Union County on the 24th.
