Smithfield is 9-1 against Jamestown since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Packers will head out to take on the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. Smithfield has given up an average of 9 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Things were looking good for Smithfield after they put the first run on the board on Wednesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They came up short against York, falling 18-7. The Packers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Kaley McGrath made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Cheyenne Debusk, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Jamestown didn't have quite enough to beat Grafton on Wednesday and fell 5-4.
Tenley Medlin put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Medlin was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.
In other batting news, Zoe Mayes (Marymount University) was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Sam Due also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Jamestown now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Smithfield, their record now sits at 6-3.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Smithfield has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.2 hits per game. However, it's not like Jamestown struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Smithfield's way against Jamestown in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, as Smithfield made off with an 11-2 win. Will the Packers repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
