Point Loma moved up to 189 from 253 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Western. The Pointers were able to make the jump by defeating La Jolla 34-7.
Madison extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Christian, 45-28. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Madison's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Kareem Coles threw for 133 and one touchdown and Vincent Parrish had 49 yards receiving. On the ground Pierre Cormier chipped in 202 yards. Adrian Bishop helped Madison's passing attack out by catching one ball for 44 yards.
Madison's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Warhawks feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Coles has thrown for 763 yards and 12 touchdowns this season, while Lee Walker has 22 catches for 341 yards. Cormier leads the league in rushing with 909 yards.
Cormier of the Rick Jackson's team is only 91 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
A big matchup in Western this week will be when the Warhawks take on the Komets. At the moment, Madison is in first, while Kearny is in fifth.
Point Loma took down the Vikings 34-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Branden Martin threw for 49 yards and one touchdown and ran for five yards in the win.
