The Vallivue Falcons will head out to square off against the Emmett Huskies at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Vallivue has 12 straight victories, Emmett has 15 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Vallivue had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 20-run drubbing they dealt Caldwell on Tuesday. The Falcons were the clear victors by a 21-1 margin over the Cougars. That 20 run margin sets a new team best for the Falcons this season.
Vallivue got a great performance from J.J. Bittick as he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk).

On the hitting side, Colt Augustus was a standout: he scored a run and stole a base while going 4-for-5. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Aaron Rayo, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Vallivue always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Emmett lost 9-1 to Bishop Kelly on Wednesday.
Emmett saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Casey Coburn, who went 1-for-3 with one double. Chris Fowler also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Vallivue's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-0. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Emmett, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9.
Vallivue's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's game. The Falcons have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Emmett, though, as they've been averaging only 0.8 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Vallivue continue to outrun the ball?
Vallivue came out on top in a nail-biter against Emmett in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 3-1. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do the Huskies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
