Shenandoah is 7-0 against Wes-Del since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Shenandoah Raiders will look to defend their home court against the Wes-Del Warriors at 7:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Two weeks ago, Shenandoah opened the new year with a less-than-successful 48-44 defeat to they. They have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, Shenandoah got a solid performance out of Haygen Tomlinson, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Tomlinson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Garrett May, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, Wes-Del's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Delta, falling 72-38. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Wes-Del in their matchups with Delta: they've now lost nine in a row.
Wes-Del's defeat came about despite a quality game from Josiah Love, who scored 13 points along with three steals. That was a full 34.2% of Wes-Del's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Gabriel Becerra was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Shenandoah has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-5 record this season. As for Wes-Del, their loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-8.
Keep an eye on the arc in Friday's match: Shenandoah have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 4.3 threes per game. It's a different story for Wes-Del, though, as they've been averaging only 3.5 threes per game. Given Shenandoah's sizeable advantage in that area, Wes-Del will need to find a way to close that gap.
Shenandoah took their victory against Wes-Del when the teams last played back in January of 2023 by a conclusive 81-56. Does Shenandoah have another victory up their sleeve, or will Wes-Del turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
