The Harding Academy Lions''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They were outmatched by Jackson Christian at home and fell 62-7. While losing is never fun, Harding Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 301st, while Jackson Christian is ranked 49th).
Jackson Christian was led to victory by Austin Kelley and Jay'len Mosley. Kelley threw for 218 yards and five touchdowns, while Mosley picked up 164 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Kelley is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last five games he's played. Duece Lawrence was another key contributor, rushing for 104 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries.
Harding Academy's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 2-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 7-2 Trinity Christian Academy and 6-3 Tipton-Rosemark Academy (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 77.8% over those games). As for Jackson Christian, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Harding Academy will take on Fayette Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Fayette Academy's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last four games. As for Jackson Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Trinity Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Trinity Christian Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
