The North Mustangs will venture away from home to face off against the McClintock Chargers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
North is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Alhambra: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that North blew Alhambra out of the water with a 69-8 final score. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 34-8.

North can attribute much of their success to Esefani Brunson, who went 5 of 11 en route to 15 points in addition to seven boards and five steals, and Xxylina Flores, who went 8 for 16 on her way to 22 points and four steals. Flores' evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Dickerson, who posted six points and ten rebounds.
North smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely McClintock's strategy against Metro Tech on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that McClintock blew Metro Tech out of the water with a 52-18 final score. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Chargers had established a 23 point advantage.
North better focus on containing Lamaiya Woodberry and Anna Egorova as the pair were huge in McClintock's win. Woodberry went 6 for 15 on her way to 17 points and five steals, while Egorova went 7 of 12 en route to 14 points. Woodberry has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kamari Roddy, who scored four points and four steals.
North's win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-3. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.6 points per game. As for McClintock, their record is now 11-6.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: North has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 40.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like McClintock struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.8 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
North took a serious blow against McClintock in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, falling 68-36. Can North avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
