The Bloomfield Bobcats managed to keep up with the Navajo Prep Eagles until halftime on Thursday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Bloomfield's rough 56-34 defeat to Navajo Prep might stick with them for a while. Bloomfield was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Navajo Prep apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2023.
Several Bobcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Danielle Johnson, who scored nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aliya Quintana, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Bloomfield's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-2. As for Navajo Prep, the win got them back to even at 7-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bloomfield will challenge Crownpoint at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Crownpoint will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New Mexico Rankings (they are ranked 80th, while Bloomfield is ranked 12th). Navajo Prep is on the road again on Wednesday and play against Tohatchi at 7:00 p.m. on January 17th.
