After a string of eight wins dating back to last season, The Billerica Memorial Indians''s good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They received a tough blow as they fell 34-15 to Andover. Billerica Memorial was down 34-9 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Judd Dorival and Gus O'Gara certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Dorival gained 128 total yards and two touchdowns, while O'Gara gained 121 total yards.
Andover's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dom Papa, who threw for 168 yards and four touchdowns on only 15 passes, and also rushed for 85 yards. Jason DeJesus did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 107 receiving yards.
Billerica Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 8-1. As for Andover, their win was their fourth straight at home , which pushed their record up to 8-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Billerica Memorial will take on Plymouth South at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Plymouth South will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Massachusetts Rankings (they are ranked 74th, while Billerica Memorial is ranked 14th). As for Andover, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Franklin at 7:00 p.m.
