The Edgewater Eagles put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Horizon 45-0 on the road. The result was nothing new for Edgewater, who have now won four matches by 27 points or more so far this season.
Edgewater got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kaden Shields-Dutton out in front who rushed for 54 yards and two touchdowns. Shields-Dutton is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last four games he's played. Jaden Brown also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.
Edgewater's win was their eighth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 9-0. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 11-3 Jones and 8-4 Bishop Moore (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 57.9% over those games). As for Horizon, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4.
Edgewater will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Boone at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. As for Horizon, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Jones at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Jones presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Horizon in Florida (Jones is ranked 27th, while Horizon is ranked 279th).
