Given River Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 79th, while Galion is ranked 350th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
River Valley's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carson Smith, who scored 20 points. Smith is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 18 or more in the last four games he's played. Sawyer Weston was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with two steals.
River Valley has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. As for Galion, their loss dropped their record down to 8-10.
River Valley will head out on the road to square off against North Union at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. North Union is coming into the match with five straight victories at home, so River Valley is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum. Galion will take on Buckeye Central at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Galion is facing Buckeye Central at the right time seeing as Buckeye Central is stuck on a eight-game losing streak.
