The biggest upset of the week belonged to San Ramon Valley, who took down 103rd ranked Foothill, 31-21.
The Wolves moved up to 117 from 148 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in East Bay. San Ramon Valley climbed the ranks as a result of topping the Falcons 31-21.
California's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Cameron Owen threw for 190 and three touchdowns and CJ Cornwell had 103 yards receiving. On the ground Cornwell chipped in 124 yards. Shane Haley helped California's passing attack out by catching one ball for 37 yards.
Monte Vista's Nikita Zamora and Jalen Avery have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Zamora has thrown for 1716 yards this season, while Avery, a 5-foot-6 receiver, has 26 catches for 599 yards. Karris Johnson from the Grizzlies leads the league in rushing with 939 yards.
Johnson of the California is only 61 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Mustangs take on Amador Valley. Monte Vista is currently in second, while the Dons are in fifth.
Mark Kessler's team made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 1,078 from 1,475. The improvement came about via a 31-21 victory over Foothill last week.
