The Mt. Zion Eagles''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 42-13 loss at the hands of Heard County. Mt. Zion was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-0.
Despite the loss, Mt. Zion still got an impressive performance from Sherrod Montgomery jr, who rushed for 118 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.4 yards per carry.
Ethan Tisdale had a dynamite game for Heard County, throwing for 211 yards and three touchdowns while completing 81.8% of his passes, and also punching in two touchdowns on the ground. Lj Green did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 100 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Mt. Zion's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 3-5. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 11.3 points per game. As for Heard County, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 3-5 record this season.
Mt. Zion will head out on the road to face off against Christian Heritage at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Heard County, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Temple at 7:30 p.m.
