The St. Brendan Sabres will square off against the Gulliver Prep Raiders at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. St. Brendan is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
St. Brendan fell victim to Westminster Christian and their airtight pitching crew two weeks ago. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors. The Sabres haven't had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Gulliver Prep, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They came out on top against Ransom Everglades on Wednesday by a score of 17-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The result was nothing new for Gulliver Prep, who have now won four contests by ten runs or more so far this season.
Jordyn Mullen made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Gulliver Prep got a massive performance out of Jenna Perez, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Perez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Danica Mujica, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and two runs.
Gulliver Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ransom Everglades only posted a batting average of .200.
St. Brendan's loss dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Gulliver Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 5-6.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. St. Brendan has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.4 hits per game. However, it's not like Gulliver Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.2 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
St. Brendan took their win against Gulliver Prep in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 15-0 score. Will the Sabres repeat their success, or do the Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
