After a string of four wins, the MCC Crescents's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They suffered a tough 90-69 loss at the hands of Yorkville Christian. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (60), MCC still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, MCC still got an impressive performance from Ammar Ibrahim, who scored 33 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. It was the first time this season that Ibrahim pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Eman Hodzic, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Yorkville Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jayden Riley out in front who scored 36 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. Riley continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Zach Marini was another key contributor, shooting 4-for-7 from deep and dropping a double-double on 26 points and 13 rebounds.
MCC's defeat ended a 11-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-7. As for Yorkville Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-14 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. MCC will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against the Vikings at 2:30 p.m. on February 3rd. As for Yorkville Christian, they will take on the Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
