On Friday, Wallace came up short against the Wildcats and fell 47-35. Wallace has struggled against the Wildcats recently, as their contest on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Matt Lungrin, who scored 18 points. Another player making a difference was Max Hanson, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Southwest's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They took a 47-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of Dundy County-Stratton. While losing is never fun, Southwest can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 238th, while the Tigers are ranked 80th).
Wallace's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-13. As for Southwest, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.
Things could have been worse for Wallace, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 56-39 loss to the Roughriders in their previous matchup back in February of 2023.
