Basketball Recap: Joshua Palic Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Akron

Sedgwick County lost to Akron back in January of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Sedgwick County Cougars came out on top against the Akron Rams by a score of 59-46.

Sedgwick County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Joshua Palic led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds. Palic is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least nine every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxon Carlson, who posted 13 points and six assists.

Akron's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anderson Filla, who earned 13 points and eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Caleb Poss, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 boards.

Sedgwick County has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.2 points per game. As for Akron, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.
