The Troy Trojans lost against the Clifton-Clyde Eagles back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Troy took a 44-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of Clifton-Clyde. While losing is never fun, Troy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 104th, while Clifton-Clyde is ranked tenth).
Clifton-Clyde's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shea Wurtz, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Wurtz has scored at least 25% of Clifton-Clyde's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sevy Wurtz, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Troy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Clifton-Clyde, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.
Troy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Valley Heights on January 5, 2024. Clifton-Clyde will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Washington County on January 9, 2024.
