The Deer Park Wildcats pushed their score all the way to 57 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Madeira by a score of 59-57. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Deer Park in their matchups with Madeira: they've now lost five in a row.
Madeira's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Will Manning, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Hopewell, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Deer Park has not been sharp recently as the team has lost ten of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season. As for Madeira, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-14.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Deer Park will take on Williamsburg at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Deer Park is coming into the contest with four straight defeats at home, meaning Williamsburg will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory. Madeira will take on Lockland at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Madeira focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Friday.
