C2 District 6 recap November 5, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in C2 District 6 this week, Battle Creek beat Bayard 61-14. The victory was the ninth in a row for the Braves.
Lutheran-Northeast was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after topping Johnson County Central. The Eagles came in at 24 in the state poll after placing at number 28 last week.
Battle Creek's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Derek Renner chipped in 193 yards.
Renner was a passing and rushing force as Andrew Carlson's team beat the Tigers.
Renner was the best running back in the league this week. In 18 carries, he ran for 193 yards as the Braves topped Bayard. Teammate Trev Bode added to the ground attack by rushing for 67 yards.
6-foot-3 quarterback Connor Osborne of West Holt is the league leader in passing yards this season with 743. He has also thrown 9 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Eli McKeown. The Battle Creek star has 13 catches for 231 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Lutheran-Northeast takes on Cedar Catholic. Darin Suckstorf's team is currently in second, while the Trojans are in third.
The Eagles took down the Thunderbirds 55-8 last week, the largest margin of any game.
