The Monument Valley Cougars entered their tilt with the Rock Point Cougars with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. Monument Valley walked away with a 65-53 win over Rock Point on Tuesday. Given Monument Valley's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 27th in Utah, while Rock Point is ranked 178th in Arizona), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Nevaeh Wilson, who scored 25 points. The contest was her tenth in a row with at least ten points. Shikeeya Hudson was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Monument Valley's victory bumped their record up to 12-1. As for Rock Point, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-6.
Monument Valley will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Pinnacle at 1:30 p.m. Hopefully Pinnacle focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 35 last Friday. Rock Point is on the road again on Saturday and play against St. Michael at 5:30 p.m. on January 13th. St. Michael is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
