Basketball Game Preview: Fort Bend Clements Rangers vs. Ridge Point Panthers

The Fort Bend Clements Rangers will head out on the road to face off against the Ridge Point Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Friday, Fort Bend Clements was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 72-68 to Fort Bend Hightower. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Thursday (56), the Rangers still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, Fort Bend Clements got top-tier performance from Aziz Olajuwon, who almost dropped a double-double on 29 points and nine boards. The matchup was Olajuwon's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Malik Olajuwon was another key player, putting up 16 points and six assists.

Even though they lost, Fort Bend Clements smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Ridge Point got the win against Fort Bend Dulles on Friday by a conclusive 66-45. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 26th, while the Vikings are ranked 816th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ridge Point is also on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 17 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season. As for Fort Bend Clements, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-10.

Fort Bend Clements lost to Ridge Point on the road by a decisive 53-36 margin in their previous matchup on January 4th. Can Fort Bend Clements avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
