White Pine was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .458. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Awaken Christian won against Lake Mead Christian Academy on Tuesday with 20 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Lions beat the Eagles by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 20-1. The victory was nothing new for the Lions as they're now sitting on four straight.
Margaux Burney made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Burney was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Kaylee Rasmussen was a standout: she scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Ellie Newton was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
White Pine's win was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-9. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Awaken Christian, their record is now 8-2.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. White Pine hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .344. However, it's not like Awaken Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .382. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
White Pine took their win against Awaken Christian in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 16-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bobcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
