Leigha Blazetic spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on nine hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 17 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Amanda Peklay was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Madelyne Prosuch, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Perry suffered their biggest defeat since April 18th on Tuesday. They lost 12-4 to Chardon. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Pirates, who until this game were averaging three runs allowed.
Morgan Winters made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run. Another player making a difference was Arianna Rogers, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.
Perry's loss ended an eight-game streak of away wins and brought them to 20-4. As for Wickliffe, the win got them back to even at 9-9.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Wickliffe hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Perry struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Wickliffe suffered a grim 14-0 defeat to Perry when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Will the Blue Devils have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
