The Nichols Vikings entered their tilt with the Sacred Heart Academy Sharks with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Nichols walked away with a 65-56 victory over the Sharks on Tuesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Nichols to victory, but perhaps none more so than Evelyn Walcott, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Walcott hasn't dropped below ten rebounds for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Lillian Colpoys, who scored 20 points along with six assists.
Sacred Heart Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brooke Personius, who scored 20 points along with two steals and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Brianna Bonvissuto, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.
Nichols has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for Sacred Heart Academy, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing St. Mary's the next time they take the court. Nichols will host the Lancers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Sharks will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
