Camp Point Central has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Lena-Winslow Panthers at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. Camp Point Central knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 matchups -- so hopefully Lena-Winslow likes a good challenge.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Camp Point Central had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They breezed by Greenfield/Northwestern at home to the tune of 54-20. Camp Point Central might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won 11 matches by 20 points or more this season.
Elijah Genenbacher was his usual excellent self, rushing for 177 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 9.3 yards per carry. Drew Paben got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Lena-Winslow put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They had just enough and edged Chicago Hope Academy out 30-28. 30 seems to be a good number for Lena-Winslow as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Camp Point Central pushed their record up to 13-0 with that victory, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Lena-Winslow, their win bumped their record up to an identical 13-0.
Camp Point Central suffered a grim 30-8 defeat to Lena-Winslow in their previous meeting back in November of 2022. Can Camp Point Central avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
