Basketball Recap: Friday's Win Is Bartlett's Eighth in Last Nine Outings

Bartlett won the last time they faced West Anchorage, and Kennedi Gaines did her part to make sure it happened again. The Bartlett Golden Bears had just enough and edged the West Anchorage Eagles out 46-44 thanks in part to Gaines, who posted 24 points along with eight steals and six rebounds. That makes it eight consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Bartlett's points.

Sina Maugaotega also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season. What's more, she also posted a 33% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's posted since back in December of 2023.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Wednesday Bithow, who scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Aniah Harris, who had nine points.

Bartlett is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.2 points over those games. As for West Anchorage, they dropped their record down to 4-6 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Bartlett has already played their next matchup, a 68-23 victory against South Anchorage on the 4th. As for West Anchorage, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 58-51 win against Service on the 4th.
