Grays Creek (Hope Mills, N.C.) took the final lead of the game on Saturday as
Ken McDowell ran for a touchdown with with 2:00 to go in the second quarter, bringing the team to victory over
Westover (Fayetteville, N.C.) 63-40.
The Bears were up 21-14 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown run by McDowell in the second quarter.
Grays Creek expanded its lead to 15 points entering the fourth quarter. GC scored two times in the third, including once on a
Dion Rackley touchdown run.
Marquis Hall made a difference for the Wolverines. The senior running back ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored six touchdowns on the season.
McDowell stood out for the Hope Mills school in the win. The senior running back ran for four touchdowns. He has now scored 34 touchdowns on the season.
The Bears also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 27-15.
Grays Creek (8-2) goes up against Overhills in a 3A Cape Fear Valley game matchup next week, while Westover (3-7) locks horns with Western Harnett also in a 3A Cape Fear Valley game.
