What's more, Cherry posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madison Joyner, who scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 1-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Slaughter, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Ridgecroft was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .370 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Southampton Academy's offense. They lost 17-0 to Kenston Forest on Tuesday. The Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Southampton Academy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kelsey Braun, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double. That double marked the first that Braun hit this season.
Southampton Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-3-1. As for Ridgecroft, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Ridgecroft hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .371. However, it's not like Southampton Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .406. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Ridgecroft's way against Southampton Academy in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as Ridgecroft made off with an 11-4 win. Does Ridgecroft have another victory up their sleeve, or will Southampton Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
