Softball Game Preview: Riverton Parke Panthers vs. Covington Trojans

For the second straight game, Riverton Parke will face off against Covington. The Panthers will face off against the Trojans at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Riverton Parke's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last eight matches.

Riverton Parke barely beat Covington the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Panthers never let the Trojans get on the board and left with a 14-0 victory on Saturday. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 games by ten runs or more this season.

Madison Coonce made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maddy Lumaye, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Jacee Stonebraker was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Riverton Parke kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Riverton Parke is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Covington, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-11.
