The San Juan Broncos had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They really took it to Bayfield for the full four quarters, racking up a 71-40 win at home. San Juan's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
San Juan's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Anthony Done led the charge by scoring 20 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. Those 20 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Jagger Nieves, who scored 13 points along with eight steals.
When it comes to explaining why Bayfield lost on Saturday, one person who can't be blamed is Cooper Rodrick. Despite the final result, he scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lincoln Williams, who scored two points along with six steals.
San Juan's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-5. As for Bayfield, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. San Juan will square off against Montezuma-Cortez at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Montezuma-Cortez will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 230th in Colorado, while San Juan is ranked 105th in Utah). Bayfield will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Piedra Vista at 7:00 p.m. on December 12th. Piedra Vista is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
