Anderson Prep Academy and Irvington Preparatory Academy are an even 3-3 against one another since May of 2015, but likely not for long. The Jets will be playing in front of their home fans against Irvington Preparatory Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Anderson Prep Academy has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with six straight losses, while Irvington Preparatory Academy will come in with six straight wins.
Anderson Prep Academy came up short against Seton Catholic on Tuesday, falling 12-2. That's two games in a row now that the Jets have lost by exactly ten runs.
Anderson Prep Academy got a good showing from Teagan Baker, who didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. What's more, Baker gave up only three walks, the fewest he's had since back in May of 2024.
On the hitting side, Anderson Prep Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zach Edwards, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.
Meanwhile, Irvington Preparatory Academy made easy work of Tindley on Wednesday and carried off a 13-3 victory. The result was nothing new for Irvington Preparatory Academy, who have now won four matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.
Owen Kriech was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lajasden Henderson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Irvington Preparatory Academy is undefeated when Henderson posts two or more runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Aiden Pollock, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Irvington Preparatory Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .600 or higher in three consecutive games.
Irvington Preparatory Academy pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Anderson Prep Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Anderson Prep Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Irvington Preparatory Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Anderson Prep Academy might still be hurting after the 29-4 loss they got from Irvington Preparatory Academy in their previous matchup back in April of 2023. Can the Jets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
