Josey has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Washington County Golden Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Josey will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 473rd, while Washington County is ranked 217th).
Last Tuesday, Josey came up short against Putnam County and fell 67-54.
Meanwhile, Washington County pushed their score all the way to 59 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were outmatched by Baldwin on the road and fell 87-59. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Washington County has suffered against Baldwin since January 20, 2018.
Washington County's defeat came about despite a quality game from Kamonta Durden, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Marquavion Cooper, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Josey's defeat was their 15th straight at home, which bumped their record down to 0-11. As for Washington County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-9.
Josey took a serious blow against Washington County in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 90-54. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Durden, who scored 33 points along with eight steals and six rebounds.
