Josey has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Washington County Golden Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Josey will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 473rd, while Washington County is ranked 217th).
Last Tuesday, Josey came up short against Putnam County and fell 67-54.
Meanwhile, Washington County pushed their score all the way to 59 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were outmatched by Baldwin on the road and fell 87-59. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Washington County has suffered against Baldwin since January 20, 2018.
Washington County's defeat came about despite a quality game from Kamonta Durden, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Marquavion Cooper, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Josey's defeat was their 15th straight at home, which bumped their record down to 0-11. As for Washington County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-9.
Josey took a serious blow against Washington County in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 90-54. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Durden, who scored 33 points along with eight steals and six rebounds. Now that Josey knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
