Alvord is on a five-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and Chico a three-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Monday. The Alvord Bulldogs will look to defend their home field against the Chico Dragons at 5:00 p.m. Alvord will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
Alvord's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Era 13-0. With that victory, the Bulldogs brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Makayla Gresham
03/28/25 @ Era | 12 |
03/25/25 vs Nocona | 11 |
03/21/25 vs Lindsay | 6 |
03/18/25 @ Muenster | 5 |
03/11/25 @ Bryson | 7 |
The result came thanks to Makayla Gresham's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Addison Fiegel was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three doubles, two runs, and two RBI. Those doubles marked the first that she hit this season. Another player making a difference was Bella McDermott, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.
Alvord always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .550. They are 2-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Chico lost 14-4 to Nocona on Friday. That's two games in a row now that the Dragons have lost by exactly ten runs.
Camdyn Marcus and Lexi Davis stepped up to the plate in a big way. Marcus went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one double, while Davis went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
The win snapped Alvord's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-7 record. As for Chico, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-10.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Alvord hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .320. However, it's not like Chico struggles in that department as they've averaged .314. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Alvord's way against Chico in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, as Alvord made off with a 13-3 victory. Does Alvord have another victory up their sleeve, or will Chico turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
