Even though the Woodland Wolverines have not done well against the Hampton County Hurricanes recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Woodland snuck past Hampton County with a 39-33 win. For Woodland, this counts as revenge for the 48-36 loss Hampton County walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.
Woodland can attribute much of their success to Lyniah Kitt, who scored 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kah'Liyah Geddis, who scored nine points.
Woodland has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 4-13 record this season. As for Hampton County, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Woodland will challenge Ridgeland-Hardeeville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Carolina (Ridgeland-Hardeeville is ranked 188th, while Woodland is ranked 190th). As for Hampton County, they will head out on the road to face off against Edisto at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Edisto will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
