The Woods Cross Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Viewmont Vikings at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Woods Cross is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Woods Cross will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Highland on Monday. The Wildcats never let the Rams get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won nine in a row.
The result came thanks to Bree Benson's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Audrey Ayala was a standout: she got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Whitney Winegar, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Viewmont hadn't done well against Bonneville recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Vikings sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over the Lakers. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Vikings.
London Dickerson made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits. Dickerson was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Karli Dickerson, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Woods Cross' record is now 6-11. As for Viewmont, their record now sits at 8-10.
Woods Cross suffered a grim 15-8 defeat to Viewmont when the teams last played back in March. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
