Lakeville South dropped their record down to 4-7 on Thursday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the Farmington Tigers, falling 12-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-1 back in April.

Lauren Schellhammer was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.
In other batting news, Trinity Jensen made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season.
As for Farmington, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 11-1. Considering they have won eight matches by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
On Farmington's side, Olivia Peterson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on nine hits.
At the plate, Farmington let Lila Johannsen and Madison Westover run wild. Johannsen went 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Westover went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three hits gave Westover a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Goring, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Lakeville South is set to challenge their familiar foe Lakeville North at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Farmington will square off against rival Prior Lake at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Tigers 1.6, the Lakers 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
