The Curlew Cougars waltzed into their match Saturday with seven straight wins but they left with eight. They strolled past Selkirk with points to spare, taking the game 37-19. The team accrued 31 points in the first half and coasted on those for the win.
Curlew was led to victory by Emma Lena Baker and Annika Baker. Baker scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks, while Baker scored 14 points along with seven rebounds. The matchup was Baker's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Calhoun, who scored two points along with seven rebounds.
Curlew pushed their record up to 8-1 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Selkirk, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.
Curlew will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Liberty Bell at 6:00 p.m. on December 29th. After both having extra time off, Selkirk and Cusick will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another at 6:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Washington (Cusick is ranked 189th, while Selkirk is ranked 182nd).
