Suburban recap Oct. 3, 2012
South Hadley and East Longmeadow played the most hotly contested game in Suburban this week, with South Hadley eventually emerging with a 31-28 victory. Sean Rondeau threw for 81 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 75 yards in the win.
Rishawn Harris was the best wideout in the league this week as Putnam Vo-Tech defeated Westfield. Harris racked up four receptions for 37 yards. Tavis Humphie-Frazer helped Putnam Vo-Tech's passing attack out by catching one ball for 24 yards.
The Beavers' Kajuan Bynum and Harris have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Bynum has thrown for 696 yards this season, while Harris, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 16 catches for 312 yards. Bryan Shippee from the Tigers leads the league in rushing with 337 yards.
A big matchup in Suburban this week will be when Cathedral takes on Amherst-Pelham Regional. As it stands, the Panthers are in fifth, while the Hurricanes are in fourth.
South Hadley made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,852 from 5,635. The improvement was the result of 31-28 victory over the Spartans last week.
