Having just played yesterday, the Godby Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Munroe Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. on December 13th. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Godby comes in on six and Munroe on three.
Godby has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 21 points or more this season. They really took it to Wakulla for the full four quarters, racking up a 63-17 victory at home. With Godby ahead 35-9 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Godby can attribute much of their success to Kenijah Clayton, who scored nine points along with 13 steals and six assists, and Aniyah Lewis, who almost dropped a triple-double on 14 points, 13 rebounds, and nine steals. Those 13 rebounds set a new season-high mark for Lewis. Another player making a difference was Zaniah Andrews, who scored 15 points.
Meanwhile, Munroe blew past North Florida Christian, posting a 52-22 win on the road. That looming 52-22 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Munroe yet this season.
Munroe's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mya Mccullar, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and three blocks. Mccullar is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Aariyonni Thomas was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with three steals.
Godby's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-2. As for Munroe, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Wednesday's match is shaping up to be a blowout: Godby hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 53.2 points per game. It's a different story for Munroe, though, as they've been averaging only 36 points per game. The only thing between Godby and another offensive beatdown is Munroe. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Godby suffered a grim 47-27 defeat to Munroe in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. Can Godby avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
