Softball Recap: Make It Eight in a Row for South Elgin

South Elgin extended their winning streak to eight on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 18-4 in the process. They put the hurt on the Elgin Maroons with a sharp 14-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Storm, who have now won 15 matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Kaidence Rumachik made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Liv Miller was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Jenna Sheehan, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double.

South Elgin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive games.

As for Elgin, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 15 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-17 record this season. Having soared to a lofty 27 runs in the game before, their shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

On Elgin's side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grace Tetrev, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases. Tetrev has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last nine times she's played.

South Elgin didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 12-0 victory against Leyden on the 7th. As for Elgin, they have also already played their next game, an 11-1 defeat against Glenbard South on the 8th.
