Softball Recap: China Spring Gets the Win

China Spring hadn't done well against West recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The China Spring Cougars had just enough and edged out the West Trojans 6-5. For the Cougars, this counts as revenge for the 12-1 victory the Trojans walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Keri Green looked comfortable as she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in February of 2024.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Payton Maddox, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that she's hit this season. Brooklyn Jamerson was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

The win made it two in a row for China Spring and bumps their season record up to 4-2. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for West, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4-1.

China Spring wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 6-4 victory against Little River Academy on the 22nd. As for West, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 4-1 loss against Harker Heights on the 22nd.
