The Adams City Eagles will challenge the Overland Trailblazers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Adams City is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season.
Adams City hadn't beaten Aurora Central on the road since May 2, 2023 but that history sure didn't bother them on Tuesday. The Eagles came out on top against the Trojans by a score of 11-7.
Christian Ramirez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over 6.2 innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Ramirez was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Nathan Gonzalez was incredible, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jiovani Barajas, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.
Adams City kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Overland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 11-7 to Gateway.
James Wethington was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Adams City is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Overland, their loss dropped their record down to 6-12.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Adams City has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Overland struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Adams City was able to grind out a solid victory over Overland when the teams last played two weeks ago, winning 9-6. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Trailblazers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
