Atrisco Heritage Academy's Nathaniel Goode recorded the longest rushing play in 5A District 5 this season in his game against Rio Rancho last week. Goode scampered for 80 yards on the play and finished with 237 on the day as his team lost to the Rams.
Albuquerque made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 13,576 from 13,736. The improvement was the result of 50-0 victory over the Bulldogs last week.
West Mesa's dynamic duo of Mike Archuleta and Romolo Salazar proved tough for Onate to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Archuleta threw for 267 yards and Salazar had 168 yards receiving. Gary Thibeaux helped West Mesa's passing attack out by catching three balls for 51 yards.
6-foot-0 quarterback Bo Coleman of Valley is the league leader in passing yards this season with 846. He has also thrown 10 touchdowns. On the ground, Atrisco Heritage Academy's Goode has rushed for 634 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Salazar. The West Mesa star has 34 catches for 416 yards.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Patrick Johnson's team and the Vikings. The Jaguars enters the contest ranked 11th in the state, while Valley ranks 25th.
There should be lots of points scored when Atrisco Heritage Academy and Enrico Marcelli's team face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Jaguars comes in having scored 178 this season, while the Vikings have scored 138. Atrisco Heritage Academy scored 28 points last week as it fell to Rio Rancho.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Jaguars take on Valley. Atrisco Heritage Academy has allowed 75 points this season, while the Vikings have given up 152. The Jaguars allowed 49 points last week as they lost to David Howes' team.
