The Pleasant Home Eagles will take on the Baker Gators at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Pleasant Home is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak.
On Friday, Pleasant Home came up short against Red Level and fell 11-6.
Reedi Bozeman was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and nine unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Bozeman was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. He also brought in an RBI, marking his first of the season.
In other batting news, John Luke Colvin was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was his first of the season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Baker, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 17-6 margin over Laurel Hill on Friday. The Gators might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by ten runs or more this season.
Like Pleasant Home, Baker also got a great game from a two-way player: Joel Morse. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Morse has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Ty Fernandez and Riley Renfro did most of the damage at the plate: Fernandez scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Renfro scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance gave Renfro a new career-high in stolen bases. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Straight, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Baker always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .743. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Baker's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Pleasant Home, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.
Pleasant Home suffered a grim 15-6 defeat to Baker in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Will Pleasant Home have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
