The Hedgesville Eagles had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They breezed by Quantico on the road to the tune of 82-7. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 51-5.
Gracie Brown went supernova for Hedgesville, dropping a triple-double on 28 points, 12 rebounds, and 12 steals. Natalie Yates was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
When it comes to explaining why Quantico lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jane Gwinn. Despite the final result, she scored 5 points.
Hedgesville's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Quantico, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Hedgesville will head out on the road to face off against St. James at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Quantico, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Wakefield School at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wakefield School will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.
